THE PLAGE DES DEMOISELLES AT SAINT-JEAN-DE-MONTS

Overlooking the Esplanade de la Mer, the plage des Demoiselles is the most family-friendly beach in Saint-Jean-de-Monts and one of the resort’s most popular. For many, it is one of the most beautiful beaches in Vendée. Located in the heart of the town, this long fine-sand beach extends over approximately two kilometres, making it very easy to find a spot to lay out your towel. Groups of friends mingle with families equipped with parasols, cool boxes, and beach tents.

The town centre is just a flip-flop’s throw from the beach. Right behind the shore, the Esplanade de la Mer is bursting with life, packed with shops, cafés, and restaurants where you can pick up any missing beach accessories, grab an ice cream, or enjoy a cone of churros.

Les Demoiselles beach slopes gently down into the sea with few waves, which is reassuring for young children. Lifeguards supervise the swimming area in July and August, from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm and from 2:30 pm to 7:00 pm. Colourful totems (boat, starfish, turtle, sun, etc.) serve as landmarks in case a child gets lost on the beach.

Numerous recreational facilities welcome families: a children’s beach club, trampolines, a play area for toddlers, beach cabin rentals, and sports activities all summer long. Not to mention the Saint-Jean-de-Monts Ferris wheel standing just a stone’s throw from the beach.

Les Demoiselles beach is fully equipped for people with reduced mobility: an access ramp and a Tiralo amphibious wheelchair allow individuals with disabilities to enjoy swimming. Free public toilets are also available.

Dogs are prohibited on the beach during July and August. However, dog owners can take a walk on the beach with their pet on a leash from 1 October to 30 April.

In just a few minutes from Le Zagarella campsite, you can reach the main Plage des Demoiselles, located just 4 km from the campsite.

To reach Plage des Demoiselles from Saint-Jean-de-Monts, head towards Esplanade de la Mer, accessible via Avenue Valentin. All car parks along Esplanade de la Mer are free. You can also reach the beach via the cycle path and lock your bikes at one of the bike parking areas.

If you are spending your holidays at Zagarella, a free shuttle runs back and forth between the campsite entrance and Plage des Demoiselles during July and August.
