THE ESTACADE BEACH AT SAINT JEAN DE MONTS

The L’Estacade beach in Saint-Jean-de-Monts lies below Esplanade de la Mer, a promenade designed for bicycles and pedal surreys. It is an urban beach close to shops and lively activities in the town centre.

Visitors come here as much for the holiday atmosphere as for the [Estacade de Saint Jean de Monts](http://googleusercontent.com/map_location_reference/0), a 400-metre wooden pier that has become the iconic postcard image of the resort. It is a popular gathering spot for walkers, anglers, and mussel gatherers.

To the right, you reach the water sports centre beach. The dunes mark the transition to the resort’s wilder beaches. Heading directly to the left brings you to the La Baigneuse beach.

The seafront is very well laid out. You can relax comfortably on the sun loungers positioned along the esplanade for a reading break or a nap in the sun. Picnic tables are also available for taking a break facing the ocean.

The beach is supervised in summer. The swimming zone is marked by red and yellow flags. Lifeguards keep watch over swimmers starting in July, from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm and from 2:30 pm to 6:30 pm.

As for leisure, beach volleyball nets are available for sports enthusiasts looking to have fun and compete. Children are not forgotten either. They can enjoy the Les Goélands beach club, for the morning, afternoon, or the whole day. On the schedule: inflatable structures, games, competitions, and Koh-Lanta or Fort Boyard themed activities, as well as swimming lessons. At the end of the day, gifts and prizes are awarded to the children.

An ideal family destination, L’Estacade beach offers all the necessary conveniences for an enjoyable day out with the family. Starting with Wi-Fi available right on the beach, perfect for surfing the web for free. Toilets and facilities adapted for people with reduced mobility are available, as well as an access ramp leading down to the beach. Beach cabins are also available to rent for those seeking extra privacy.

If you wish to bring your dog to L’Estacade beach, please note that you can walk them on a leash from 1 October to 30 April. However, other nearby beaches allow dogs all year round.

L’Estacade beach is accessible via the northern end of Esplanade de la Mer, at the intersection of Avenue des Pays de Monts (a 10-minute drive from Le Zagarella campsite).

A slipway and a dune path serve the beach. You can reach it on foot or by bike along Esplanade de la Mer. Several free car parks are nearby, particularly along the esplanade. Les Pimprenelles car park is reserved for motorhomes.
